Tooth decay is caused by bacteria in the mouth. These bacteria make a sticky substance called plaque that can eat away at a tooth’s enamel. Poor oral hygiene can raise your child’s risk for tooth decay.

Kids love candies, soft drinks, and sweets, but you as a parent know that such foods are terrible for their oral health. Tooth decay leads to cavities, which are incredibly painful.

- Plaque, caused by bad oral hygiene, is also a cause of cavities.
Remedies
1. Chew on Neem Stems
The antibacterial properties of neem make it an excellent way to combat tooth decay. Pick a small, soft, leafless stem and ask your kid to chew on the end.
2. Oil pulling
Long used in India to maintain good oral health, all you have to do is take some sunflower (Suraj Mukhi), sesame (til), or coconut (nariyal) oil in your mouth and swish it in your mouth as if you were rinsing with it.
3. Gum massage
Combine 2 teaspoons of mustard oil with a ¼ teaspoon of salt and use this to gently massage your gums in a circular motion. This is an excellent way to ease swollen gums, toothache, and bleeding gums.
4. Gargle with salt
Simply gargling with a cup full of warm water that has half a spoon of salt dissolved in it will help you prevent tooth decay.
