How to Choose Your Signature Wedding Scent

When you are planning a wedding, there is so much to think about. The dress, venue, bridesmaids, jewelry, and the perfume?

Yes, for many brides in 2023, there is more to planning a wedding than simply choosing a white dress and a photographer. There is something unique and romantic about the scent you wear on your wedding day, as it can be a reminder of when you and your partner started your lives together as a married couple. It can also make an amazing anniversary gift for a wife to receive a bottle of that same perfume as a constant reminder of your love for one another.

So, how do you go about choosing your perfect wedding perfume? Here are some tips.

What Are Your Favorite Scents?

This sounds simple enough; which of the perfume types are your favorite?

In a loose grouping, there are four types of perfume scents: floral, fruity, oriental, and woody. If you love the smell of jasmine, bluebells, lavender, and roses, then you like floral. Or do you like the smell of vanilla blossoms with whisps of cinnamon? If you do, you will likely prefer oriental scents. Either way, all of these perfume types can be found at direct fragrances, and they are even grouped to help you choose your perfect aroma.

Start the Search Early

It seems simple enough, doesn’t it? You choose the perfume in the afternoon, and you can move on to the wedding dress accessories. Well, no. For many brides, there are lots of things to consider, such as the venue, themes, color scheme, and their own feelings towards different perfumes.

Do you want to go with a citrus scent that brings explosive freshness, such as the Louis Vuitton California Dream dupe, or maybe something more tame, with woody and earthy base notes?

If you start early, you won’t have to rush the search, and, much like choosing the dress, you will find the right one for you with better clarity.

Consider Longevity

OK, so on your wedding day, unless you are holding it at a hotel and having the reception there, too, chances are you won’t have access to your perfume bottle (unless you have a bridal bag). So, you will need to think about the longevity of the fragrance you choose. This is where the concentration of the scent in the perfume will become a focal point. If you want a stronger scent that will last all day, choose an eau de parfum. If you can afford to reapply the perfume throughout the day, choose an eau de toilette.

Get a Second Opinion

It is always worth getting a second opinion from a trusted friend or family member when you are choosing the ideal wedding scent. Have them come with you when you look at perfumes and see if they agree about the scent matching you, your wedding theme, and your dress. Just remember, it is your choice, so if they disagree with you, it’s not the end of the world!

Cost

Lastly, there is no point in buying a perfume worth $2,000 if you don’t have an enormous wedding budget. So, keep the cost and the budget for the wedding in mind when choosing the right perfume for you and your bridesmaids.
