Cancer Of The Heart

Cancer of the Heart (primary cardiac tumor) is cancer that arises in the heart.

Although cancer of the heart is still rare, most cancers found in the heart have come from elsewhere in the body. Cancers that begin near the heart, such as lung cancer, can grow to involve the heart or the lining around the heart (pericardial sac).

Or this cancer can begin elsewhere in the body and spread to the heart through the bloodstream. Cancers that may affect the heart include breast cancer, kidney cancer, lung cancer, leukemia, lymphoma and melanoma, among others.

Heart Cancer Symptoms

  • • Difficulty breathing when lying flat or when asleep.
    • Fainting, lightheadedness or dizziness.
    • Palpitations or rapid heart rate.

Causes Of Heart Cancer

Doctors don’t know why some people get heart cancer and others don’t. There are only a few known risk factors for some types of heart tumors:

  • • Age: Some tumors occur more frequently in adults, and others more often in babies and children.• Heredity: A few can run in families.• Genetic Cancer Syndromes: Most children with a rhabdomyoma have tubular sclerosis, a syndrome caused by an alteration (mutation) in the DNA.• Damaged Immune System: Primary cardiac lymphoma occurs most often in people with a poorly functioning immune system.[1]

Prevention Of Cancer

By avoiding things that cause cancer, the risk of tumors can be greatly reduced, if not prevented. Don’t smoke or use tobacco products. Reduce, limit or otherwise moderate heavy drinking, excessive exposure to the sun and radiation.

Ignorance, experts say it’s a disease, there are numerous habits and activities we get ourselves in which makes us stand a greater chance of cancer. Here’s a rundown of the common habits.

Night Duties and Shift

It’s obvious you will be get little or no sleep while on night duties, and lack of sleep can reduce or decrease body system immunity and low level inflammation.

With these as deficiency you are prone to the risk of cancer. Although more research is still ongoing to prove this claim one hundred percent.

Where possible and you have the opportunity to, it’s always advisable for you to choose the morning shifts, so you can have enough sleep at night.

Living a Sedentary Lifestyle

By being sedentary I mean living an inactive life, staying at a position or vicinity, sitting around, lazing about etc.

Exercising is one of the major ways of doing away with sedentary lifestyle. Exercise aids the body systems and organs to carry out some of their activities with speed, it serves as a catalyst.

Living Overweight

This goes along with being sedentary and it is something you need to be aware of. According to the National Cancer Institute, obesity has been associated with increased risks of esophagus, pancreas, colon and rectum, breast, kidney, and thyroid cancer.

Having Oral S3x

While oral s3x is awesome sex routine, it’s also has a great potential of exposing you to orapharyngeal cancer ie cancer in the neck and throat. This can be cause the human papillomavirus a sexual transmitted disease.

This virus causes abnormalities in cells and if not properly treated it can lead to cancer. The prevention or cure of an infection of this kind is not yet standard but using dental dams will lower the chances of passing or contracting the infection.

Prevent Cancer With Diet

With some diet and food you can lower the risk of cancer to a greater extent.

1. Broccoli
Broccoli contains sulforaphane, a plant compound found in cruciferous vegetables that may have potent anticancer properties.

2. Carrots
Several studies have found that eating more carrots is linked to a decreased risk of certain types of cancer.

3. Beans
Beans are high in fiber, which some studies have found may help protect against colorectal cancer.

4. Berries
Berries are high in anthocyanins, plant pigments that have antioxidant properties and may be associated with a reduced risk of cancer.

5. Turmeric
Turmeric is a spice well-known for its health-promoting properties. Curcumin, its active ingredient, is a chemical with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and even anticancer effects.

6. Citrus Fruits
Eating citrus fruits such as lemons, limes, grapefruits and oranges has been associated with a lower risk of cancer in some studies.

7. Tomatoes
Lycopene is a compound found in tomatoes that is responsible for its vibrant red color as well as its anticancer properties.

8. Garlic
The active component in garlic is allicin, a compound that has been shown to kill off cancer cells in multiple test-tube studies

Heart Cancer Treatments

When possible, surgical removal is the treatment of choice for all primary heart tumors.


Cancer of the heart exist though rare, and its treatment is like no treatment.
So to be on the safer side we advice that you prevent it at all cost,by avoiding some habits as stated above, adopting some food or supplementing them in your diet, and always visit a physician when you start noticing the symptoms.
